Lecien was founded in Kyoto in 1933, named after traditional French lace maker “Lucien Gilbert”. While honoring the rich lace-making traditions born in Italy, Belgium, and France, Lecien integrates the refined aesthetic of Kyoto heritage to create its own unique brands in lace, embroidery and intimate apparel.

To preserve and pass on the legacy of European lace culture, Lecien operates the Lecien Lace Museum which collects over 100,000 items of historical lace. At the Lecien Lace Museum, visitors can explore the cultural and historical significance of lace.
